Face Painting Terms and Conditions

Approved Products:

Harlequin Face Painters only use professional water-based face paints which are fully compliant with EU and FDA toy and cosmetic regulations. These paints are hypoallergenic and include anti-bacterial properties which are specifically for use on the face and skin. Paint can easily be removed using mild soap and water. Some skin types are prone to some very mild initial staining – a small amount of mild baby shampoo will remove this gently.

Water is changed regularly during a booking and clean sponges used for each face. All equipment is thoroughly cleaned after each booking.

 Booking Times and Arrangements:

If the face painter/artist is unavailable to work due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances the deposit and any paid balance will be refunded in full if a replacement face painter can not be arranged.

The face painter/artist may be able to work longer but this is at the discretion of the face painter/artist. Please be aware the face painter/artist may have additional bookings to go to.

Additional face painters/artists can be arranged, please call to discuss your requirements
Artists can paint around 12 quality full faces an hour but please do not expect the artist to stay longer to accommodate more children than stated on the contract.

The face painter/artist will start working at the time stated and leave at the time stated. A setting up period and packing away period will be allowed for by the face painter/artist.

Booking and Payment:
Full payment upfront is required upfront before any work commences. Bookings will only be confirmed once payment is received. All monies must reflect in our bank account before any work commences. Any extra hours other than the ones invoiced for must be paid in cash on-site, please ensure that you make provision for this as it happens quite a lot. If you are a Corporate client and EFT payment should be made within 1 week after the event.

Cancellations:
Canceled engagements within 8 weeks prior to the party date will attract a fee of 50% of the total fee payable.  100% will be due if not giving 8 week’s notice.

Once correspondence has been received confirming a booking this will form the contract and this could be via Social media or email or text message.

Parking:
Please leave a space open as close to the site as possible, or in the driveway, so the face painter/artist can unload heavy equipment. Parking fees, if applicable, will be reflected in your price. Please inform Harlequin Costumes at the time of booking if this is the case. For permit located areas, please arrange for a car parking space for the artist.

Requirements and Working Conditions:

Please arrange for a suitable table and two chairs to be made available, and suitable protective cover should the face painter be working outside. If arrangements (protection) against the elements are not made appropriately then Harlequin Costumes reserves the right to cancel the booking arrangements and hold the client liable for full payment.

Harlequin Costumes always have your children’s safety and interests in mind and as a result, we reserve the right not to paint under certain conditions – see below for examples as the list is not exhaustive:

Harlequin Costumes will not paint faces of anyone under 3 years of age. The face paint manufacturers do not recommend paint for anyone below this age and very young children can sometimes be overwhelmed by the results. We may paint a small design on the hands or arms of children younger than 3 years of age, but this will be at the discretion of the face painter.

Harlequin Costumes will not paint anyone who is obviously unwell (runny nose/temperature/rash) or has any other visible skin complaint (eczema; chickenpox; acne; cold sore; open wounds; eye infections etc).

Harlequin Costumes will not paint anyone against their wishes (this may result in stopping painting before the final result if a child becomes uncomfortable or changes their mind). Please do not force your child to be painted if they really are uneasy or unwilling – face painting should be an enjoyable experience for both the child and parent.

Children must be under constant adult supervision whilst being painted or waiting for their turn. Our Face Painters are not childminders and kids can not be left with us without supervision for any reason. It is the responsibility of the event organizer and or party host to ensure that the kids are organized as to when each one will get painted and to clear the area of the kids that are already done.

The Client will be held liable for any losses or damages that may occur due to any incident that happens at the event.

The Client agrees to pay for any accidents or injuries caused by the client, clients’ guests and/or pets, and/or any damage to the artist’s equipment or supplies caused by the client, clients’ guests and/or pets.

If you believe the person to be painted has sensitive skin, a skin patch test can be carried out. It is the guardian, party hosts, or event organizer’s responsibility to inform the face painter in advance if this is the case. Our Face Painters can not be held liable for any allergic reaction to the paint.

If you are making a booking for a children’s party, please ensure all parents are aware in advance that a face painter will be on-site, especially when parents/guardians are unlikely to be present.  It is the host’s responsibility to ensure that all parents/guardians have been informed and that any comments are relayed back to the face painter.

Without prejudice, Harlequin Costumes reserve the right not to paint any persons we feel should not be painted.
